In 2008, the Human Motorics Research Laboratory (referred to as HMRL) was established at Klaipėda University Faculty of Physical Education under the Department of Physical Education. In 2010, as part of the project "Renewal of IT Infrastructure and Basic Equipment for Humanities, Social Sciences, and Arts Studies at Klaipėda University," the laboratory's equipment and premises were upgraded. Keeping up with modern trends in sports science, HMRL's equipment is updated annually, enabling research on physical development, physical capacity, physical fitness, and physical activity.
HMRL equipment is used for scientific research and for developing students' research competencies. Additionally, the equipment is utilized to assess the physical development, capacity, and activity of Klaipėda city and district residents, as well as for testing young athletes' physical fitness.
At HMRL, weight and height measurements are conducted, body mass index (BMI) is determined, and comprehensive body composition analysis is performed using the IOI353 body composition analyzer. Anthropometric and physiometric measurements are also conducted, including grip strength tests for fingers, hands, legs, and back using analog and digital dynamometers. The Functional Movement Screening (FMS) system is used to assess the quality of primary or fundamental movements, movement control during execution, and movement integrity.
