Scientific-Ethical Commission for Biomedical Research


The Biomedical Research Scientific-Ethical Commission of Klaipėda University, Health Research and Innovation Science Center, consists of:

  1. Chairperson of the Commission:

  2. Commission members:
    • Doc. Dr. Cesar Agostinis,
    • Doc. Dr. Alona Rauckienė-Michaelsson,
    • Prof. Hp. Dr. Geriuldas Žiliukas,
    • Doc. Dr. Vincas Urbonas.

The Commission accepts the requests of research groups to examine and assess biomedical researches and their compliance with the ethical requirements. Discusses the methodology used in the study, the questionnaires, considers their compliance with ethical requirements and finally provides an expert assessment.
The Commission ensures the ethical evaluation and supervision of biomedical research:

  1. Performs scientific-ethical expertise of biomedical research documents according to the established review form;
  2. Examines, adopts and issues decisions regarding the suitability of research instruments used in students' scientific final works or researchers' scientific research works;
  3. Accepts and issues decisions on the submission of documents to the Lithuanian Bioethics Committee or the Regional Biomedical Research Committee in Kaunas for approval.

If you need the Biomedical Research Scientific-Ethical Commission to conduct an ethical assessment of the study, you first have to:

  1. Fill in the sample form of the Biomedical Research Ethical Assessment Form,
  2. Submit an official request to the Scientific and Ethical Commission for Biomedical Research,
  3. Submit other documents required for ethical assessment (questionnaires, questionnaires, permits for questionnaires, resumes of researchers who will conduct the study, informed consent form).

We invite you to apply to the commission, which will conduct an expert assessment for your biomedical research, provide conclusions if the reasearch instrumentation complies with the requirements of biomedical research and is suitable to be used in the research.
